Human Resources in the Mining Industry
The mining sector has many fields that require vast human resources says Richard Fifer. Nevertheless, skilled human resource for the mining industry is in many cases difficult to find, as development and innovation of the mining industry continues to increase in demand as noted by Richard Fifer. The problem is substantial, as college students seem to be less engaged in mining than a several years ago. In contrast, experienced personnel in the industry are commonly retiring due to different reasons deteriorating the already worsening condition.
Aware of this current situation, mining companies are presently working hard training their employees and focusing on employee retention. Many university programs also provide students with certificates, diplomas and degrees related to the mining industries. Since mining is comprised of a great number of disciplines, the training is highly advanced as stated by Richard Fifer. Some of the fields and courses taught at mining industry related institutions are Dragline Training, Haul Truck Training, Shovel Training, Wheeled Loader Training, Long haul Training, Continuous Miner Training, Roof Bolter Training etc.
This critical problem is prevalent also in the high levels of mining in companies. The administrative aspect of mining frequently faces issues when seeking qualified people like Richard Fifer. This happens in most cases because when recruiting for positions such as plant managers, administrative managers, engineers, technicians, environmental scientists, drilling experts, etc., they must be vastly qualified individuals which in some cases are difficult to find.

The Beginning of the Evolution in Mining
Undoubtedly many changes have taken place in this earth during the passing of the ages of its development. With the appearance of the Earth began the formation of mineral deposits as we know them. It is believed that remnants of the first continents still exist among rocks of the oldest formation. Richard Fifer and others believe that with the evolution of time, the process of alteration of mineral deposits have been formed, and with great stratifications of rocks to make earth’s continents, these have been created.
The most ancient of rocks are called Archean rocks and are located mainly in the north in the form of a great stretch from northeastern United States over into Canada, to Labrador and to the arctic regions. Eastward Archean formations occupy the northern part of Great Britain, Scandinavia, Northern Russia and the Ural mountain regions. Further eastward, they are also located into Siberia, among the Altai Mountains and perhaps portions of what we know today as Alaska. In the southern region of the mountains surrounding Africa and portions of the mountains in the northern South America can also be found rocks of Archean formation.
Associated with the pre-Cambrian period are a great part of the uplifted ranges of eastern United States, as well as some portions of the Rocky, Andes and mountains of Central Europe. Following the pre-Cambrian period, came the Cambrian period and all the periods of the Paleozoic Age. During the Cambrian period the first forms of life were developed and land in greater extent appeared above the surface of the water. The great regions of northern United States and Lower Canada, portions of the mountains of Brazil, great stretches of Asia, and large areas of Central Europe and nearly all of Africa may be referred to this age.
In similar formations came the Mesozoic, during which there were greater mountains intrusions and the building up of further landed areas around those already formed. One of the largest development taking place during this period occurred in Europe with perhaps the completion of the continent of Africa where least altered surface of the earth has developed.
